Summary: The position directs and coordinates the activities involved in creating and administering a variety of personal trust accounts including estates, court-ordered guardianship trusts, IRAs and investment agency accounts in accordance with the terms creating the trust , wills and court ordered and/or agreements. The position is responsible for developing quality client relationships, professional contacts, supporting the Financial Consultants of D.A. Davidson & Co. and soliciting new accounts. Manage client accounts in accordance with the terms of the account’s guiding document and in a manner consistent with the needs of principals and beneficiaries and secure new business to contribute to corporate sales and profit objectives
Qualifications: (including specific Education and License requirements)
BA degree or equivalent education and related training.
7
+ years in Trust Administration.
Extensive knowledge of financial, estate and tax planning.
Strong PC skills, to include Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel. AddVantage system management.
Extensive knowledge of the interpretation and practical application of document provisions, probate law, taxes, investments and the legal framework of estate and trust administration.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve questions arising from account administration.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, interpersonal skills, and professional social and telephone etiquette.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to work with little or no supervision and self motivated.
Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality; discreet
Excellent customer service and presentation skills.
Organizational skills and detailed oriented. Ability to multi-task.
Interest in sales or sales experience preferred.
Duties:
Assist in the drafting of trust documents or consult with client’s attorney, who drafts documents, to assist with the details and conditions of the document for administration purposes. Review legal documents of existing accounts. Confer with outside attorneys and tax professionals as required. Review, approve and process customer requests and maintain current knowledge of trust laws and regulations.
Provide daily administration of trust accounts with responsibility for all transactional activity such as bill payments, wire transfers, placing trades as instructed etc. Direct disbursement of funds according to the conditions of the trust and/or court order and ensure that excess of surplus funds are invested according to the terms of the trust.
Assist exiting clients and/or potential clients with the review of current estate planning documents and/or options. Make recommendations as is appropriate.
Maintain the correct asset allocation and ensure investment objectives are met for full investment discretion accounts invested in either the MFP or CTF models.
Handle all aspects of estate administration as the need arises.
Develop a professional working relationship with positive referral sources and target clients to enhance new trust business. This may require some cold calling and additional follow up. Promote trust services and establish new trust accounts from internal and external sources. Develop goodwill and provide assistance to any Davidson FC and affiliates.
Keep abreast of changes in legislation and regulations affecting estate planning and trust administration to ensure accounts are in compliance with all required regulations.
Provide management with regular status reports and other information regarding client accounts. Solve existing problems, anticipate possible problems and take preventative action. Identify client needs based on significant life events.
Assist in the development/presentation of seminars to personal trust clients and their advisors.
Perform other duties as assigned to include the supervision of the support personnel position when appropriate.
